High School Proposal

Archdiocesan High Schools
Proposal 2008

Connelly Foundation offers grant opportunities to twenty archdiocesan high schools for the purpose of introducing, strengthening, replicating or proposing collaboration on educational projects that enhance students’ learning experiences and/or present a unique plan to improve or stabilize enrollment. Written proposals are accepted through October 1, 2008.

(Private area high schools should follow general Grant Application Guidelines.)

A single copy of the proposal must include:

1.   Executive summary of the project, its goals, financial requirements and present status. A specific grant amount must be requested.

2.   Mission statement and brief history of the school; a copy of the most recent Secondary School Profile; Faculty seniority profile (advise number of faculty with 1-10 years of service; 11-20 years of service; 21-30 years of service; and 31+); marketing brochures, recruiting programs, website address; school’s current operating budget; an annual development report; two most recent audited financial statements.

3.   Detailed proposal including the project objectives, target population, implementation plan and timeline, budget, revenue plan (sources and amounts), and the plan to fund the project on an ongoing basis, if required. For capital projects (construction, renovations, equipment), expenses must be documented as follows:

  • For new construction or renovation to existing space - a complete breakdown of all costs including professional fees and expenses, a visual rendering of the project, square footage, copies of preliminary or final bids, and financing arrangements (if applicable).
  • For acquisition of equipment - a copy of the most appropriate of three bids, costs of installation and financing arrangements (if applicable).

4.   Proposal should also contain strategy for staff development and technical support, if required, and resume’ and/or job description for project manager and list of key staff people.

5.   Profile the student population impacted directly and/or indirectly. Describe anticipated outcomes and a plan for assessing them.

6.   Indicate if this is a model program or an original idea. If it is a model program, identify schools that have implemented the program and share the results of your visit.

Applicants generally receive an acknowledgement of the receipt of a proposal within two weeks and a response within three months. Applicants may be contacted during the proposal review process to request a telephone conference, site visit or presentation. Visits to the Foundation office or approaches to staff during the proposal review process are discouraged. High schools can only receive one grant within a twelve month period.  Those that have received a grant from the Connelly Foundation are required to submit a final report before being considered for a new grant. Final reports need to be submitted under separate cover.
